Hi, Timandra here, author of the books you can find on this site and also the website admin (yikes). Truth be told, I’m not very good at tech stuff, so I thought I’d write the privacy policy of this website in understandable language. However, I shall switch to the plural we because that sounds more professional.
We are located in Germany (EU) which means we operate this site and its newsletter under strict GDPR compliancy when it comes to any personal data. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose data.
The website address is: https://timandrawhitecastle.com.
The data protection officer is: Timandra Whitecastle. You can contact us with any of your data concerns over the CONTACT page on this website.
Personal Data. Personal Data we may collect includes name, email address, and address. Some of the Personal Data we ask you to provide is mandatory for a service (e.g. address, payment information, etc). If you decline to provide it, we may not be able to provide that service to you.
Non-Personal Data. We may also track which books and pages you visit while on the site.
As you probably know, websites utilize so-called cookies. Some of them are essential for the operation of this site; others you will be able to opt out of. Since this site is ad free, there’s no long list of vendors and third party sites that want your information. It’s just us. (Me.)
If you visit our page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Some pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos or images). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
We will never sell, rent, or lease your Personal Data to a third party.
Unless there’s a legal issue somehow (e.g. you do a crime for which the legislation of your country needs access to the information we have about you for some reason), your data is safe with us. If you buy a book over this site, we will need some sensitive information (payment, address, etc.) which is protected. If you are a recurring customer and create an account (thanks!), we retain your information beyond the processing and completion of an individual order. (See below: how long do we retain your data)
If you sign up to the newsletter, your email and name will be shared with our newsletter provider MailerLite.
If you collect your free novella or buy an ebook through this site, your information will be shared with our favorite book delivery service BookFunnel.
If you buy a book, your information will go through woocommerce.
We do not use a Facebook Tracking Pixel on this site.
We will retain your Personal Data for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless a longer retention period is required or allowed by law.
For users that register on our website (if any), we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
(In theory. It’d be great if we didn’t have to puzzle that out, though. Thanks!)
If you have an account on this site you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
If you have any further questions, please contact our data protection officer, Timandra Whitecastle, over the contact page’s form.
Thank you for visiting this site!
